There are many great players that have played for Arsenal but when put to the best judges of all, the fans themselves, it was Thierry Henry who came in at the number one position.

Thierry Henry joined Arsenal in 1999 and in his 8 year stay, until 2007 he scored an amazing 226 goals in just 380 games. He was noted for his strength, stamina and mind blowing technique along with his keen desire to give 100 percent each time he played. The Frenchman was also a great all rounder. Although his official position was as a forward he was renowned for his penalty taking and ability to assist in any situation making dead balls good balls and occasionally goals.

When Henry joined The Gunners he was not a particularly trained striker and kept his position as a lateral player. But it was under the careful guidance of manager Arsene Wenger that Thierry Henry was transformed into an extraordinary goal shooting machine. Although it took him several games to get into his groove as far as goal scoring was concerned, as soon as he found his feet there was no stopping him.

Thierry Henry saw London club Arsenal through to win two League Champions Cups in 2002 and 2004 and two FA Cup titles also in 2002 and in 2003. He gained much respect both on and off the field and his popularity among fans was on the increase. In 2005 he was made captain following Patrick Vieira’s departure and he himself left Arsenal in 2007 after signing up with Barcelona.

Former Arsenal player George Graham took over from Don Howe as the new club manager in 1986 where he stayed until 1995. He was noted for his many achievements at Millwall and was more than willing to take Arsenal back to their former glory.

Since their FA Cup win in 1978-79 Arsenal had failed to gain any more significant titles. The team was slowly slipping from the top and it was down to Graham to turn things around. In his first season as manager Graham replaced many of the older players with fresh new signings. He demanded a strict regime both on and off the pitch and it was undoubtedly down to these changes than the Scotsman managed to pull Arsenal back up to the top position of the League by Christmas time in the club centenary year.

After Graham’s first season at Highbury, Arsenal finished fourth in the league and in 1987 went on the win the League Cup. But it was in Graham’s third season that Arsenal won the League title, the first time since 1971 and quite a memorable achievement. The team had a strong defence and midfield which was to stand the test of time for the next decade.

After signing legendary goal keeper David Seaman, Graham brought Arsenal another League Title in 1990-91 and reached the FA Cup semi-finals. In 1992, under George Graham’s guidance Arsenal became the first team to win both the FA Cup and League Cup Double.

1994 saw Arsenal win another Cup, that of the Cup Winners Cup but it was to be the last Graham would win as Arsenal’s manager. He was sacked in 1995 for receiving an illegal sum of £425,000 from Norwegian agent Rune Hauge following the clubs 1992 acquisition of John Jensen and Pal Lydersen.

Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendter has his sights set on being one of the best strikers in the world. The young Danish international arrived at Arsenal at the tender age of 16 when he played in the youth team. He made it to the first team in 2007 and fought hard to guarantee himself a regular place.

Last season Bendtner scored an astonishing 15 times from just 27 starts proving quite an achievement for such a young player. At just 21 years old he has his whole football career in front of him but has done pretty well so far when it comes to gaining attention, recognition and footballing respect.

Despite receiving several bouts of criticism from fans at home at the Emirates Stadium for some of his playing performances he has always had the firm support of club manager Wenger. One of his qualities that has made him stand out is his ambition to improve and be considered as one of the all time greatest. Already his game has shown some favourable changes for the better, particularly since Emmanuel Adebayor left for Manchester City. A regular fixture for the Danish International squad he was even named as Denmark’s Player of the Year.

In an interview with the press Bendtner said, "I had three aims this year – to get into the Arsenal team, qualify for the World Cup and to be Player of the Year. I have achieved them all.”

Just how great Nicklas Bendtner goes on to be remains to be seen, but one thing for sure is that he has the skill, determination, ambition and of course youth well and truly on his side.
